IIT Bombay's annual chemical engineering symposium, AZeotropy, organized by chemical engineering students, will be held in Mumbai on the 18th - 19th of March, 2023.
For 17 years, AZeotropy has been a cornerstone event in the chemical engineering community, bringing together students, academia, and industry professionals to explore the latest advancements and emerging areas in this field. The symposium comprises diverse events involving a unique blend of chemical engineering-based competitions, lecture series, panel discussions, exhibitions, workshops, and informal events. Azeotropy has been recognized as the leading chemical engineering symposium in Asia, with a participation of over 5000 students from over 300 different engineering colleges all over India and more than 50 corporate personalities.
With the theme of "Ecotopia-Into The Greenverse" in its last edition, AZeotropy aimed to raise awareness and knowledge about sustainability and safety in chemical engineering. After a three-year online execution, the event returns with even more excitement, as it will be conducted offline, providing a platform for in-person exchange and collaboration. The event provides students with the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and engage in hands-on learning experiences, while industry professionals have a chance to interact with students and academia, offering a unique perspective on the latest trends and advancements in the field.
The symposium has witnessed lectures by eminent personalities such as Gerald Fuller (Professor of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University), Mayuresh Kothare (R. L. McCann, Professor & Chair of Chemical Engineering, Lehigh University), Douglas Buttrey (Professor at the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, University of Delaware), Shirish Garud (Director at Energy-Environment Technology Development), Harsha Bhogle (an Indian cricket Commentator and journalist), Abraham D Stroock(Cornell University), Sandra Kentish(University of Melbourne), and more.
We organize a series of interesting competitions, like the Industry Design problem, sponsored by The Ocean Club, Rotary Club of Mumbai SOBO, and Sangeeta. The participants solve a real-time industrial problem. AZeoRover is a model-making competition that challenges the students to power a car with non-conventional energy sources using Chemical Engineering knowledge. We provide a platform for researchers to showcase their work to a panel of experts and industry leaders. To know more about the other competitions we organize, visit our
website.
The 17th edition of AZeotropy has ‘Reliance Industries Limited as the title sponsor and is powered by ‘Anupam Rasayan India Limited’. The industrial sponsor is ‘Alkyl Amines Chemicals Limited’. The fest is organized in association with ‘Jay Chemicals’.
With a wealth of knowledge and insights to be shared, Azeotropy 2023 promises to be an unforgettable event for anyone interested in chemical engineering. We hope to see greater participation than in previous years and look forward to the many exciting discussions and presentations that will take place.
