Pure Ammonium Chloride is manufactured by double-decomposition processes that all involve the reaction of sodium chloride with an ammonium salt. Ammonium salt is supplied directly, or generated in situ by the reaction of ammonia and a supplementary ingredient. Pure Ammonium Chloride and sodium salt are formed. The sodium salt is normally less soluble and is separated at higher temperatures; Pure Ammonium Chloride is recovered from the filtrate by cooling.
